Augustines of Central is a boutique preserving company created by Gus (Augustine) Hayden to showcase the beauty of our local produce, Augustines uses traditional methods to give every kiwi a taste of Central Otago.
From picking the fruit to producing the preserves and jams, Gus is involved in every step of the process. Using only the freshest Central Otago produce, Augustines has created a range of multi award-winning small batch preserves, jams and chutneys with all of the colour, flavour and beauty that Otago is famous for.

In 2023, we received a gold medal for our Blackcurrants in Cassis & our Black Peach & Tomato Chutney. A bronze medal was awarded to our Strawberry & Rhubarb Jam.
In 2022, we picked a gold medal for our Rhubarb in Rosé, and two silver medals for our Black Doris Jam and our Pickled Asparagus!
In 2021, Augustines won a gold medal at the Outstanding food producers “Earth” medal category for our Black Doris Plums in Pinot Noir and our Apricot Date Chutney! Our Augustines Black Doris Plums in Pinot Noir won the Earth category at the 2021 Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards.
