“Stunning hidden gem. We found this magical place on the way to Otago Peninsula...”

Being featured in Stuff NZ as a “This small orchard café is one of NZ’s best-kept secrets” and listed among the best local spots in Dunedin by NZ Herald is something we’re truly grateful for.

The biggest compliment, however, comes from everyone who dines with us. Read through some of our reviews below – we love welcoming you to Augustines of Portobello!

“Beautiful peaceful spot in the bush with bell birds serenading our lunch. Arrived early for our booking but no bother for the friendly staff. Coffee was great and the food was fresh and superb. The group had the waffles, the eggs and asparagus, and the fantastic toast of the week. Will definitely be back.”

“What a delightful place to dine. I had an amazing breakfast of granola, fresh apricots, red currants, yoghurt etc…. WORLD CLASS!!! The coffee is really great too. A must visit if you are passing through Portobello!”

“What a hidden gem of a cafe! We had heard a lot about this cafe and had been meaning to try it for so long. Now that we’ve tried it I fear we might be out Portobello way all the time. The location is tucked away in a vibrant garden area, the cafe/farmstore itself is beautifully decorated with preserves and fruits, all the staff were lovely, and the FOOD…! Wow! Our group had smoked kingfish Toast of the Week which was next level (BEST brunch both myself and husband have had in forever!), Eggs + Avo, Eggs + Sirloin Ham, some (incredible) pastries and a lamington. The lamington was also a real show stopper and best we’ve ever had. We will be back!!!”
